Bio

Christian Mena is a Filmmaker, editor, and photographer based in his South Florida home town. Born on April 11th, 2000, he grew up in Plantation living with his family. He takes inspiration from everyone in his life. His mom’s humor, sister's follow through, and father's work ethic. His passion for making films goes back to early childhood. When it wasn't uncommon to find him taking his sister's digital camera to make stop motion "movies". Growing up he spent a lot of time at his dad's job, a mom-and-pop theater, where he would see amazing stories put to screen. Molding his perspective and sowing the seeds of true passion for the art. He would dream of epics he could one day direct and film. To have his name attached to a project and work with amazing talented people.

After graduating high school he studied philosophy and religion at Broward College. But after the Covid pandemic forced schools to shut down he took it as a time for reflection. Making the decision to enroll at McFatter Technical Institute in the Television Production program. He worked on many projects for local artists, including short films, commercials, and music videos. He was a cameraman for the McFatter's events as well as covering multiple positions for Broward County Athletic Association's weekly broadcast. The experiences he's had up to this point only push him closer to his goal of becoming a Director of Photography.

It's always been the camera work that caught Christian's eye most. Always intrigued by the different looks and styles that could be achieved whether it's Emmanuel Lubezki's immersive landscapes or Robert Yeoman's magical color palette. It was seeing The Revenant when his love for cinema transformed into a deep infatuation for the camera itself. When the word "cinematography" first entered his vocabulary. He can't wait to contribute to the industry he loved so much growing up. To leave it different from how he found it.
